After graduating High school as a straight A-student, Serguei continued his education in college. In 1987, he achieved a Masters Degree in Physics with the emphasis in Ballistics and started his professional career as a Design Engineer.
Through his life, Serguei applied himself to many radically diverse activities. He enthusiastically studied karate, enjoyed mountain climbing, kayaking and acrobatic free-fall parachute jumping. Gifted in many ways, Serguei expressed his talents in poetry, song writing and artistic photography.
Still in search of the most fulfilling career to implement his potentials, Serguei worked as a commercial Scuba Diver, an industrial Welder-Fitter, a news company Official Representative and a Parachute Instructor.
In 1993, he moved to the United States where whole new horizons became evident. He found himself in visual art, sculpting in metal.
"Anything Serguei touches, turns into an art," one of his close friends once said, which has proven to be a true statement throughout Serguei's life.
Self-educated in art, he scrupulously studied works of great masters of Renaissance, Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo Buonarroti, who Serguei considers his inspirational teachers. Frederick Hart is his favorite sculptor of modern time whose beliefs in artistic excellence and moral obligation Serguei can share.
As an artist, he works with different mediums; from computer-generated graphic designs, from carving stone to sculpting in clay and various metals. Artwork he creates is original, elegant and meaningful, mostly kept in private collections.
Ukrainian-born American artist, Serguei proudly became a United States citizen in the year of 2000.
"God and my parents gave me a loving and compassionate heart, thirst for learning and strong working ethics. With that, I will never fail," Serguei says.
Currently, he resides in Markleysburg, Pennsylvania with his wife Deborah.
Serguei was a first-born son to a humble Ukrainian family in 1964 of Mykola and Vira Velidtchenko.
One of the most valuable gifts to Serguei from his parents was gaining reading skills at the early age of 4; he discovered and fell in love with a wonderful world of literature.
Serguei's curiosity and vivid imagination thrived on everything he experienced while the family traveled through Europe and Asia during his childhood years: magnificent shores of Baltic Sea in Lithuania, colorful country sides of Hungary, virgin taiga of Eastern Siberia, endless flats of Mongolia, fruitful farmlands of Ukraine as well as industrially developed cities of Western Siberia and European parts of Russia.
The first lessons in graphic design and artistic photography were given to Serguei by his father who, once in a while, involved his young son in simple metalsmithing projects as well; all those sessions proved to be greatly valuable in further developments of Serguei's hobbies, interests and, ultimately, skills.
